Pre-Teach: No
Focus: Internal
Purpose: To warm up, recover, or cool down the body.
First Move: OTS Arms. Take a few deep breaths. Start to move your arms, inhale up. And slowly exhale and let your arms come down. Start by flowing your arms around your body gently and softly. Now let your arms dance. Explore your levels, down low, up high. *if you are using this as your warm up tell them “This is your opportunity to lubricate your joints and get your entire body moving and warmed up ready to dance”. I encourage you to let the music inspire how you move your body and dance it. Lots of breath. Arms, soft, gentle, flowy. Let your head move with your body. Let this be your own little dance. No one cares how it looks so let it feel so delicious. Infusing it with your breath. Relaxing through your body as you move. Let your head move. Can you explore your levels, all the space above you, around you, and below you. You can get it wrong, just let the music guide you. Your way is perfect!
Second Move: Slow Arm-Walk-Walk. You’ll hear a drum. On that drum, make a slow shape with your arms. Then walk, walk. Slow Arm-walk-walk. Soft. Fluid. Gentle. Allow yourself to be creative with this. What shapes can you make? Beautiful. Slow. Arm accents. Then keep moving. Explore the space. Can you do this a little differently each time? Get your whole body involved in the slow arm. Almost let this become meditative. Exploring your levels. All your directions. Backwards. Turns. Beautiful! How creatively can you form shapes with your body? It never stops moving, flowing from one into the next. So delicate. Your own beautiful dance! Do it your way, but use your whole body with your arms.
