Purpose: To get the heart rate up and explore the space
First move: dance walk – Have them walk as if they were the one whistling. Standing tall, proud, lots of elbows in their arm movements. There is a music change at 2:12 where the walk gets quite a bit more funky so be sure to cue that. You can have them walk next to someone sometimes as well, trying to match their stride, smile at them, then move on.
Second move: fast feet – This is a small travel move with very fast feet on the beat. Letting the arms wiggle, the shoulders shake while the feet run. This will heat up the body because of the fast tempo, but is still small movements for the beginning of class. Be sure they travel around each other and go in different directions as well.
