Coaching Notes:

Pre-Teach: Yes (But if you add the waltz to your warm-up walk it’s not necessary to pre-teach)
Focus: External
Purpose: To warm up the body

Pre-Teach: Try this waltzing step with me: it goes down-up-up down-up-up walk walk, or 123-123-walk-walk. It’s really light and flowy; try exploring getting up on your tip toes on the 2-3, for the waltz feeling, and walking slowly and elegantly on the walk-walk.

First move: Arms. Start to move your arms slowly to the music. With confidence and a little bit of romantic drama. All around your body. Explore levels. And give yourself permission to be a little theatrical. Tell a love story with your arms. Dance it in your own unique way.

Second move: Waltz-2-walk-2 or (Walk 2- Waltz 2). Now waltz: 123-123-walk-walk. Let your waltz be light and elegant and flowy. Start to explore your directions and move into the open spaces on the dance floor. Can you add your arms? Have your tried turning as you waltz? You can’t get wrong – dance it in a way that feels good to you! Listen to the song and let it inspire your dance. Can you move your head as you waltz? Sing along if you know it. You can walk backwards. Maybe you want to smile to the ones you pass? How lightly and flowy can you move across the floor? Dance like you don’t have a care in the world – make it feel sooooo good! How can you add your hands? What if you allowed yourself to be a little theatrical? Express your dance with a little romantic drama.

Third Move: Walk. Now walk slowly to the beat. Add your arms. Walk like you’re in a romantic movie and loving it. Dance your walk with your whole body. Even your face.
