Purpose: to explore confidence, strength and balance through the style of tango dance
First move: slow-quick-quick. Listen to the music and put this rhythm in your feet: slow-quick-quick, or drag-walk-walk. We are
exploring the style of tango dancing and that means allowing yourself to dance with confidence, passion, poise and
elegance.
Travel the room with this rhythm and explore how you can move sideways, backwards and turn as you dance it.
Start to add your arms on the slow. Move your arms in different directions everytime, and once in a while let your eyes follow your
hands to add focus and a bit of drama to your dance.
Let your feet glide the floor.
See what it feels like to lift your chest and pull your shoulders back slightly. Poise, elegant, fiery.
Give yourself permission to dance it with your whole body, you can’t get it wrong.
This is your dance. Your dance floor. Your space to express yourself and make your body feel good.
How can you add drama to your expression?
And explore what it feels like to dance this with confidence and passion.
How can you get your arms in it? How can you get your face in it?
Second move: OTS draw circle with one foot. Stabilize on one foot and draw a circle with your other foot. Explore drawing small
circles and bigger circles. And reverse the circle whenever you want.
How can you dance it with focus and elegance?
Keep your upper body engaged and let your chest and arms move and dance as well – focus, confidence and passion.
Draw your belly button slightly in to help stabilize and balance as you circle the foot.
Third move: OTS Flick feet. Stay on the spot: Knees together and flick your foot. Explore the different directions as you do it and
change feet when you want. Keep your chest lifted and dance it with poise and confidence. You can’t get it wrong – simply
explore the style of tango as you dance the flicks – how can YOU dance it?
