Focus: Primarily External. However, when people get into the flow of dancing the punches it has a meditative potential that makes it a more internal experience. You as the facilitator decide which energy you want to create.
Purpose: To increase heart rate and focus on intense movement of the arms and shoulders.
This song is a great cardio track with a simple variation of punches throughout the whole song.
*You will introduce all the punching rhythms OTS, then you can begin to travel them.
First move is single punches. You can call it ‘club arms’ as well, if you feel that works better. Ok start punching, 1, 1, 1 or single single single, This is single punch. Punch to the beat. 1, 1, 1, 1. Great now, see where else you can take your punches.
Explore all the space around you. Can you punch behind you? Bend your knees and let more of your body move with the punch.
Have you explored the space below you or above you? Where else can you punch. Just keep punching.
This is great for arm strength and endurance. You can do it, just punch, but punch everywhere you can.
You can’t get this wrong, just punch. Now start to dance your punch, get more of your body involved.
Explore your levels and all the space around you.
*The first time you do the single punches, its to demonstrate, the next times you do it, you want them to walk with it and travel.
Now walk while you punch. Explore all your directions, but keep punching in all the space around you.
You can even walk backwards or sideways while you punch.
Can you put your style and flavor into it. Do it your way. Just keep punching and travel through the room.
Second move is double punches. Now turn your punch into a double punch, 2 on one arm, then the other, double, double. Now take those double in all the space around you. You can’t get it wrong, just keep punching. Add your style.
Remember there is space below you, behind you, above you.
*The first time you do the doubles is OTS, when you come back to the doubles they are walking, but its walking 1/2 time so a double punch with each step. It will happen naturally.
Third move is fast punches that you do OTS. Doing it on the spot is quite important because it’s difficult to travel when you do it fast. Now lets punch fast, 1,2,1,2, 1,2. Go go go. You got it. Now bend your knees and your hips will move while you punch. Let it be a little wild and crazy.
Can you continue to explore all the space around you, above you, below you, fast punching.. go, go, go.
*Fast punching is always OTS so the hips will move.

There is no transitions in this song, so you choose when you want them to transition between the moves.
