Adult Facilitator
Pre-Teach: No
Focus: Mostly external in the TP, mostly internal in the OTS move
Purpose: To explore balance and stability in a playful way.
You set the scene by telling your Groovers they have been out partying and have had a little too much to drink.
(Depending on your crowd you can also play with the idea of being in an amusement park, getting off of a crazy ride being super dizzy and out of balance.)
First move: 12-123. Alright you guys, we’ve had a liiiiiiiitle too much to drink… Let’s see if we can connect to this rhythm: 12-123. Put the rhythm in your feet, but notice how the alcohol is challenging your ability to keep your balance.
Start to explore the room with your 12-123. A sloppy, drunk and loose 12-123.
Show me what it looks like when you dance the 12-123 as sloppy and unstable as you can.
Have fun with it and allow yourself to look silly and ridiculous!
You might not even hit the rhythm all the time – doesn’t matter, show must go on!
You can use the walls to support you as you walk past them.
Oopsie-Daisy!
Is there somewhere in the room you haven’t been yet?
You don’t have a care in the world – life is great!
What would it feel like to turn? Both ways?
Have you tried walking backwards yet? Or sideways?
Let your arms and hands move floppily around to try to keep your balance.
You might want to (involuntarily) see if you can use the levels as you walk through the room.
No one cares what you look like – the sillier the better! Don’t censor yourself!
Anyone else up for just one more tiny tequila shot?
You can try covering one eye for better focus…
Show me how your head is dangling and upper body flopping around.
Show me in your face how much you’ve had to drink!
See if you can find a friend to support you in keeping you balance for a while. Now wave bye-bye again.
How drunk are you? Show me…
Second move: 12-123 knees OTS. See if you can stay on the spot. Open your legs wider and soften your knees. Now put the rhythm in your knees: 12-123. Now start to let your upper body, head and arms move as well. Sloppy, floppy, loose, drunk.
This is your drunk dance on the spot – give yourself permission to just be playful and have fun with it.
Can you explore the levels as you dance on the spot?
Let your hips move. Let your shoulders move.
Can you get your face involved?
One more shot of tequila anyone?
Don’t worry if you trip or fall – just make it part of your dance!
Transitions:
No specific time code in this song, you decide when you want them to transition between the two moves.
At 3.27 the beat dies out and in this part it’s super fun to have them play with the scene of reaching their front door, trying to get the key in the door, and get down the hall without waking up the family.
