Focus: Internal
Purpose: Connect to breath creatively while warming up and preparing the body to dance.
This song is a great warm-up. It is not a traditional circulation/lubrication song. However there are similarities as a warm-up, making
sure you get the whole body involved and moving all the joints and body parts to prepare them for dancing.
We are going to use this song to warm-up our bodies, so start by standing in a gentle and relaxed way, soften your knees, even relax
the muscles in your face. Now simply listen to the music, it tells you what to do. “Take a deep breath”. Demonstrate and invite
your participants to create a beautiful flowing arm movement on the inhale, then release and exhale it gently and softly. Try to
inhale with your body differently each time. Just gently breathing in deeply, and releasing. You can even add a little drama to
your movement. Let your inhales and exhales be at your own pace and your own time, don’t follow anyone else’s breath. Trust
your own flow.
You can use the pathways of communication to inspire them to explore their whole body with the breath.
Can you use your levels? You can explore the space above you on the inhale and perhaps see how low you can go on the exhale.
It is possible to change your direction each time.
How can you incorporate your spine into your breathing movement?
Give yourself permission to dance your movements, you can’t get it wrong, your way is the right way.
Create a delicate and soft dance as you breathe with your movements.
How good can you make your movements feel?
Can you explore traveling and taking a deep breath somewhere else in the room?
Let it be a like a meditation.
