Adult Facilitator
Pre-Teach: No
Focus: External
Purpose: To warm up the body and mobilize the spine
First move: Transitioning poses. Strike a sexy pose with a bit of drama. Transition into a new pose – keep your body moving from one pose to the next. Give yourself permission to be burlesque, sexy and over the top in your expression.
Show me how you can stick out your chest, hips and arms, creating different poses every time. What other body parts can you involve?
Can you get your whole body involved at once?
What about your face?
Dance your poses with sassiness and confidence, your way is the right way!
Have you tried using your levels yet? What would that feel like?
Second move: Jazz hands. Open your arms out to the side and show me jazz hands! Let them dance around your body. Give yourself permission to be dramatic and theatrical – channel your inner burlesque dancer!
How can you dance your jazz hands differently every time? How can you move your arms?
Third Move: Twist. Bend your knees a bit, feet apart and start to twist! Let your hips dance and the rest of the body follow.
Can you add your arms? Can your head move with it?
Can you travel your twist?
Have you tried exploring the levels as you twist?
Give yourself permission to really dance the twist – you can dance it with all the sass and confidence you want!
Maybe you wanna add a little sexy to it? Up to you – you dance it YOUR way!
And whatever you do – dance it to make yourself FEEL good. You can’t get it wrong.
Fourth move: 60’s walk. Walk to the beat 1-2, 1-2. Listen to that 60´s vibe in the song and let that inspire your dance walk.
You can swing your arms with a little whip – maybe you can add your head to that whip?
Dance it through the whole space – exploring dancing sideways and backwards. And have you tried turning it yet?
You can also use your levels.
Move into the open spaces on the dance floor. No one can do it like you – show me how YOU dance it.
*The twist and the 60’s walk fit both verse and chorus, so you decide when you want your participants to transition between those two moves.
