Purpose: to warm up and lubricate your body
This is a warm up, circulation-lubrication song but we will be moving through the space throughout the song.
You’ll start them in a VERY SLOW walk, no particular beat to follow so ask them to exaggerate the slow at the start, moving in
different directions, filling in empty pockets.
Bring awareness to the feet. ”How does it feel as you roll your feet against the floor as you walk?”
As the music gets a little faster ask them to move a little bit quicker and maybe play with the speed or tempo of their walk.
Start to invite more movement in the knees, bending, lifting, sliding their feet on the floor.
Allow them time to explore all of those possibilities then invite movement in the hips…. the rib cage, spine, shoulders and head.
Allow some silence and space for them to incorporate each body part after you’ve cued it. Explore levels, etc.
Remember to cue and coach enhancements:
“Can you add more breath to your movement?”… or soften the breath, breathe bigger etc.
“Let the music inspire the way you move”
“Dance your warm up”.
Transitions:
No set transitions, let the music inspire you.
