Adult Advanced Facilitator 1
Pre-Teach: The shuffle and swing-your-partner.
Focus: External
Purpose: To increase heart rate and create connections on the dancefloor
Pre-teach: Show people the shuffle, and then have them try it with you. Cue on the 123-123 and have them travel a bit as they
shuffle.
You will also let them know that in one part of the song they will partner up and swing a partner. Have them grab the person next to
them and try it out. Change directions.
Have fun with it and be mindful of your partner and people around you – don’t go too fast or make it too wild.
First Move: Is a walk. It’s light, peppy and country like. Cue on the beat to get them into the rhythm, and then invite them to travel
the room using directions, levels, turning and using the whole space.
Remind them to dance their walk.
Second Move: Is slow arms. You count them in – four counts – then you change arms. You can do one arm at a time or both.
Important is you coach on making it different every time. Reaching in new directions, using levels and really expressing it.
Third move: is the shuffle. Cue on 123-123 and have them fly through the room!
Lots of energy, turns and using the whole space creatively as you dance your shuffle.
Fourth move: Is the swing your partner. Have them connect with the person closest to them, and swing!
You facilitate the changing directions and maybe a new partner as well if there is time.
