Coaching Notes:

Pre-Teach: Yes Focus: Both Purpose: To increase spatial awareness

***Explicit language***

Pre-teach: Both combos. Have them practice spatial awareness with the forward/backward walk to help open peripheral awareness. They can look over their shoulder when they go backwards.

The chorus is arm, arm, 123. Help them connect with this rhythm/combo.

Put this one in the core of your class so your participants are warm.

There’s a little introduction. Have them stand still and connect to that serious mood of the very beginning.

First move: forward-4-backwards-4. This move is more internal. Now start to travel the room. Play with changing directions. Walk it with intensity. Serious energy. Really use the space. Allow yourself to be super focused. Change directions. Add your breath. Allow your gaze to go to the floor. Stay in your own bubble.

Second move: arm-arm-1-2-3. This is more externally focused. Add some drama. Dance it in your own way. Let your hair dance. Now allow your spine to move with this as well. You can reach it or throw it. Whichever feels better for you. Play with directions. Sideways. To the floor. One arm at a time or both arms. Whatever you do, dance it. Be dramatic with it. You could turn the 1-2-3’s if you want. No one cares what you look like. Dance it with your own style and personality. Let the music inspire how you move it. Sideways. Backwards.
