Purpose: Cardio, warm up, spatial awareness
First move: Run. Put the beat in your feet and start running (jogging) around the space.
This is all about getting the heart pumping and staying on the beat.
You want your students to creatively move around the space getting in and out of each other’s way.
Second move: Play the drums to the rhythm in the music. Invite them to play the drums on their body to get the blood circulating and wake up the whole body.
You can also get them to interact and play the drums together. Invite lots of creative options like playing on the floor, walls, chairs, whatever is in the space.
Keep reminding them to stay with the music and follow the rhythm of the drum.
The last time you have them playing the drums be sure you invite lots of creative options as it’s much longer or alternatively, you can ask them to run again.
Third move: Pulse in a squat position. Building strength in the legs and warming up the legs more. Encourage them to get lower.
