Coaching Notes:

Pre-Teach: No
Focus: External
Purpose: Dance, interaction
First move: Merengue basic step. Get the kids to walk merengue style so their hips are involved and they have a little latin flavor happening.
Invite the arms, shoulders and even the head to dance.
Ask them to take it around the room and explore moving in different directions like backwards and sideways and even turning.
You can also call our to bring their arms up all together if you want. Invite partnering when it feels right. Kids love to partner.
Second move: Step together. This is a little challenging for the young ones but you can try it with them. It’s a step close the feet.
The challenging part is changing directions and going the other way but have them give it a go!
Third move: Down and back. This movement has a down action.
Doesn’t matter what foot they use but one goes down infant and the step back to replace.
Alternate when you’re ready and do it as many times as you’d like.
