Pre-Teach: No
Focus: Internal
Purpose: To explore the meditative feel of dancing one rhythm only.
First Move: Walt. This whole song is a waltz: down up up. It’s soft, elegant and light. So see if you can add that to your dance.
Delicately and creatively use your arms to express while you waltz. Explore the space and see what it feels like to turn as you dance your waltz through the room. Add your breath. Can you let your head move as well? Soft and light movement in your head and neck. Explore soft extension through your spine and upper back as your waltz. It’s also possible to gently bend your upper body to the sides as you waltz.
Let yourself explore how your upper body can dance as you waltz. Listen to the music and let it inspire how you dance it. You can’t get it wrong.
You can also just bend the knees and go down up up without coming on the toes if you need to give your calf muscles a break.
Let yourself be softly dramatic in your expression.
Stay soft and relaxed. Keep your focus internally. Follow the intensity of the music, more dramatic as it builds.
Second Move: Pause. There are several pauses, have them just pause, and count them back into the 123 or Waltz when you hear it. Just pause. Breathe. Relaxed and soft.
