Coaching Notes:

Pre-Teach: No Focus: External Purpose: Connect to tango style, confidence and explore drama

First move: As an option, you can start getting your students to stand tall and confidently walk around the space. Cue for nose up, chest out, very proud walk. Steps are long and they are also practicing moving around backwards, sideways, turning. They can also make eye connection. Their faces should be serious.

Second move: OTS ask them to strike confident tango inspired poses. Cue for big arms. Sharp transitions. Cue the levels as well; low, medium and high poses. You can invite interactions here too.

Third move: Smell the rose and throw it away. This is super fun because we explore more creativity here. They have to imagine roses are all around them. They pick and throw or they can also smell the rose and throw it away. But the roses are everywhere and of course, add drama!

Fourth move: Walk 2,3 and sharply change direction. It’s very obvious in the song, so connect them to that rhythm and invite sharp quarter turns, half turns, even full turns! This is super fun and dramatic!

Transitions: The beauty of this song is that you can do any of the moves whenever you want! You also don’t need to do all the moves! Transition when you feel as well. Have so much fun being dramatic with them!
