Focus: External
Purpose: To increase heart rate and improve the cardiovascular system.
Pre-Teach: Arm Slice-Run 6. Twice in this song we are going to play with a cool arm-slice move. Try it first without music: slice your arms through the air and then run for 6. Try out different ways of slicing – one arm, both arms, different levels and directions. And no matter how you slice – put all of your power into it. Strong powerful arms.
First move: Bouncy walk. Start to walk to the music with a nice bounce: walk, walk. Now add the bounce as if you are walking on a trampoline. Or like you have a small spring in your knees as you walk.
Dance it with coolness and attitude – lift up your arms and hands and let them dance too. Like you are telling a story with your hands.
Can you bouncy walk backwards?
How can your head move?
And what about your upper body? Let it move too, almost with a hip-hop like vibe.
Dance it your way – your way is what makes it feel delicious!
How can you let your whole body dance your bouncy walk with coolness, confidence and attitude?
Second move: Fast Feet. Now stay on the spot and let me see your fast feet. Let everything jiggle! We’re building up the energy for the arm slice and run. Let me see your feet moving like the floor is on fire!
Third move: Arm Slice-run 6. Now slice your arms through the air and run! Again – slice your arms, lots of power and energy!
Can your slice with one arm? Can your slice in a new way? New direction? Using the levels?
When you run keep it light and springy – use the whole space!
Maybe you can run somewhere in the room you haven’t been yet?
Can you do your arm slicing with a friend next to you?
Give yourself permission to be a little aggressive in your movement – get it out through your arms!
No one can do it for you – how can YOU dance it?
