Pre-Teach: No. If you use scarfs you pre-teach the walk-walk-throw.
Focus: mostly internal on the walk, mostly external on the walk-walk-accent
Purpose: To warm up or cool down the body through expressive dramatic movement
Pre-teach: You only pre-teach if you are using scarfs. Instead of walk-walk-accent, it’s walk-walk-throw.
Try it out with your participants until they get the rhythm of the throw – use the words to connect them ‘walk-walk-throw, walk-walk-throw’.
Play with throwing the scarf in different directions, changing hands, spinning around before you catch it, using levels and making your scarf dance.
First move: An intense, dramatic and alluring walk. Connect them and unify them, and have them use different directions and levels. Invite them to add their arms, expressing the walk with the whole body involved.
Second move: Walk-walk-accent. Connect them to the rhythm verbally while you do the move, and give options on how to accent different ways as they dance it. Arms, head, turns and so on. Invite for dramatic and passionate dancing and lots of expression.
