Pre-Teach: No (depending on your crowd you can pre-teach ‘the swing your partner’)
Focus: External
Purpose: To increase heart rate and create fun and energetic connections on the dance floor.
First move: Light run. Let it start lightly and delicately, very ballet like and regal. Chin up and chest open, using your arms to add the drama. Prancing through the space. Playing with directions, backwards, turns. On your toes and ballet-like. Adding your arms to the dance.
The second time you do this move, you will start to build with the music and build into the swing your partner. You can even add in over-the top leaps. Be as creative as you want. Let the music inspire your ballet like dance. Knees up to build the intensity. That’s it.
Second move: Arm-Arm-Walk-Walk. Using your arms you will present yourself – present, present and release. Chin up. Can you change directions each time? Maybe even present to someone. Chest open as you present.
Third move: Swing-Your-Partner. Hook elbows with someone, staying light in the feet. When you feel like changing directions, go ahead. But keep it regal as you swing your partner. Chest lifted. Arms open. Expressive. Chin up.
