Coaching Notes:

Pre-Teach: 12-accent
Focus: Internal OTS, external on the TP
Purpose: To explore moving the joints creatively through obscure poses.
Pre-teach: Try this rhythm with me: 12-accent. It’s walk-walk-accent a body part.
You can accent any way you want using arms, hands, head, spine. But allow yourself to explode on the accent. When you hear the music the accent will be clear.
Do it with them a few times, coaching for accenting and exploding in a new way every single time.
First move: bizarre abstract shapes. Listen to the rhythm, start to create bizarre shapes with your body: shape, shape, change, change.
Explore adding a new body part every time: elbows, knees, hips, head, chest, spine, fingers.
Can you use your levels too?
Can you dance it with a weird and bizarre expression? You can’t get it wrong – just explore weird shapes.
Have you tried looking in different directions with every shape?
If you want to you can explore the 123-rhythm too in your shapes.
Almost like a puppeteer is controlling all your movements. Weird. Bizarre.
Can you create new shapes every time?
Have you tried moving your shoulders?
What about adding your face?
Don’t censor yourself – express and dance it in your own unique and creative way.
Second move: Now keep moving through your bizarre shapes, but slow it all the way down so you flow seamlessly from one shape to the next.
Like you are moving under wanter – but don’t lose the bizarre expression.
Can you make it soft and flowy?
Can you explore the levels?
Can you involve your whole body at once?
What does weird and bizzare look like in slow motion?
Remember, your way is the right way. Express and dance.
Third move: 1-2-accent. Now walk-walk-ACCENT. Walk-walk-explode! Start to move through the space as you dance it. Everytime accent something new: hands, arms, head, knee. Listen to the music and let it inspire how you move. Have you tried dancing in different directions? Or turning as you accent? Give yourself permission to be dramatic and expressive! Move in to the open spaces on the dance floor. Can you make your accent explosive and a bit wild? What about playing with the levels too?
Can your head move too?
Dance it YOUR way!
