Pre-teach: Yes – demonstrate the robot and getting stuck and have them try it with you
Focus: Internal and External
Purpose: To creatively explore the space
First Move: Breathe in, Breathe out (use arms to draw breath in and push breath out to others and whole room). Start where you are by breathing in and out. The words will tell you. Now add your arms. Breath is so powerful. Now as you breathe out, share it. Let’s start to add more movement to it, making interesting shapes. Let’s add a sound to our exhale. That’s it. Play with your levels. Share your breath. Where can you take your next exhale? Use your full body and explore all your levels. You can’t get it wrong, just see what is possible. Have you tried pushing out behind yourself? Can you take your breath to every corner of the room?
Second Move: Breathe OTS – just a moment to center yourself before going into the robot.
Third Move: Robot Walk 4, Stuck 4. Walk somewhere new and get stuck. Play with how you stick. Find bizarre shapes. Get your face in it. Maybe your hair is stuck too. Make it different every time. Where else can you go? As bizarre as you can. Eyes. Face. Make it robotic and get stuck. Nobody cares what it looks like! Try different directions. Maybe a new body part gets stuck. You can’t get it wrong, just play and explore.
