Purpose: To mobilize thoracic spine and rib-cage and inspire interaction on the dancefloor

First move: Open-close movement. Instruct people to start with opening and closing the arms, slowly, softly and elegantly.
Inspire them to infuse the movement with their breath and start to allow the rib-cage and spine to move with it as well.
Coach and inspire for creativity by asking them to open and close their body in new ways every time – using levels, moving the arms in different directions, and allowing the whole body to open and close in different ways.
Dancing it in your own beautiful way. Can’t get it wrong.

Second move: Is open-walk-walk. You open your arms and body and then take two steps to the rhythm. Count people in until everyone is successfully connected to the dance move, then have them travel the room as they explore the move. Using directions and levels. Keep coaching for new ways to open – give them options: maybe you can involve your rib-cage/spine/head/hands/shoulders/just one arm and so on. You can keep the internal focus with the TP or you can choose to facilitate interactions and make it more external and create connections on the dance floor. What you tell people to do is when you open, you do it with the person next to you. Dance the ’open’ move with them and then walk-walk. You don’t touch the other person, you don’t even have to be close, you just do the move with them, you can mirror them or do it in your own way, but together with them. Use Groove truths and style words to connect them deeper to the style and to get them expressing their own dance fully.
