Coaching Notes:

Pre-Teach: No
Focus: External
Purpose: To create creative interaction on the dance floor through sound play

First Move: Play piano for 8 and travel for 8.
You hear that piano? Let your fingers dance to the sound as you play the piano. Now go somewhere new in the room. As quiet as
you can. Start to play the piano in a new way every time.
You can play on the floor. On your body. On the walls.
Travel to a new place in the room. Maybe on your tip toes – no sound at all as you travel.
Where can you play the piano? Are you using all your fingers?
Travel to a new place again and see if you can use your levels, or turn as you walk.
Can you play the piano with someone? What happens if you look at your hands as you play? Let your fingers be playful and explore
the space around your body as you play.

As the beat kicks in:
Now show me how you add some funk to your piano playing. Get your whole body in it. Dance it!
Now travel somewhere new but dance walk with funk and personality – yeah you got this! Your way is the right way!
Somewhere your fingers haven’t danced yet? Can you use your levels as you dance?
Show me your funky dancewalk! Allow your head to bob and your arms to dance! How does your shoulders and chest move as you
walk?
Have you played on the floor yet? On the walls? On your head? On your leg? On your back? Your chest? Your face? Your arms? Your
butt? Under your feet? Only you know what’s possible in your body – explore your dance!
Dance the piano with someone – you can’t get it wrong!

Second move: Step and clap. Now step-clap with the music! Explore clapping in a different place every single time: above you, below
you, behind you, under your leg, on the floor, on the walls – maybe you can even clap with someone else on the dance floor?
Travel the room and dance your step-clap! Try moving sideways, backwards and turning – have a party in your body, the dance floor
is yours!
