Purpose: To practice balance

First Move: Hop and Hold. Whenever you hear that sound in the music, hop or step on to 1 leg.
Balance until the sound comes again then hop or step to the other leg. See if you can hold the balance in a solid shape. Then try a new shape. You can pull your belly button a bit closer to your spine to better stabilize holding the position. A different shape every time: you can lift your knee, stick your foot out, open your arms in different directions or even try to move your upper body with it as well.

It doesn’t have to be pretty – just play with all the different shapes you can create. Don’t worry if you loose your balance – just make it part of the dance – you can’t get it wrong. As you step or hop try to move in different directions and maybe play with your levels. Focus your attention and explore different ways to balance in your own unique way.

Second Move: Hop and Dance. Start to dance in your balance! That’s right, listen to the beats and let it inspire your dance. See if you can hold that balance while letting your arms, head and upper body dance! Be playful, make it a bit wild and simply move your body to the rhythm. What happens if you put a smile on your face? Allow your whole body to dance it! Groove it YOUR way.

Third Move: Hop and Flow. As you step or hop into your balance start to play with flow and softness in your movement. Keep playing with different shapes every time you step or hop, but make your dance fluid, flowy and gentle. Can you make your arms dance? Maybe your shoulders? Add lots of breath to your movement right now. Show me how soft and flowy you can make your movements right now.
