Coaching Notes:

Pre-Teach: No
Focus: Internal
Purpose: Warm-up the body, and connect to rhythm

First move: Arm-arm-slow. Start OTS (On The Spot) by connecting the arms with gentle lifts to the accents of the piano; arm-arm-slow.
Do it a few times to make sure everyone is comfortable with that rhythm.
Then ask them to explore the direction of the arms. Invite them to really elongate the “slow”.
The second time this move comes, you might ask them to explore their levels. Maybe suggest deepening their breath.

Second move: Move & snap. The snap rhythm is very slow, so you have the opportunity to move in between each snap.
Ask them to flow their hands to the next snap. It can be rolling or circling body parts. Snap a new place every time.
This move is intended to be relaxed and flowing, giving you a chance to keep warming up the body.

Third move: Soft walk. Connect your feet to the soft beat and start traveling across the floor.
Invite the arms to flow, exploring the space around your body as you travel.

An advanced option for this move is to do the “arm-arm-slow” as you do the soft walk. (This is explained at the end of the video tutorial.)
This is just an option if you are able to successfully demonstrate this move yourself.
If you invite your participants to try this in class, make sure to inform your participants that if it confuses them, they can just allow their arms to float their arms instead.
