Purpose: To warm up the body
First move: Slow walk. Connect your feet to the beat: walk 1,2-1,2. It’s soft, light and gentle. You can walk sideways. You can walk backwards.
Start to add your arms and hands. Soft, expressive movements with your arms and hands, like you are decorating the space around you with your soft movement.
How can you dance your slow walk?
How can you express it in your own way? Let me remind you that your way is the right way. Let your body move in a way that feels good to you. You can’t get it wrong.
Soften your face. Let your head move softly with it.
What happens if you allow your spine to move softly too? Maybe your shoulders?
Listen to the music and let it inspire your dance right now.
Second move: Tempo walk. Listen to the song and connect to the beat. It’s a little faster now and little funky too. It’s still light and soft – but see if you can add that funkiness to your dance.
Give yourself permission to add your own personality and style.
You can get your head bouncing softly. Maybe you can add your arms to your dance?
